Tornadoes and Separation

Today as I was listening to the death toll rise to nearly 300 as a result of yesterday's tornadoes, I thought of this painting by the Norwegian painter Edvard Munch 1863-1944. His art and his life often focused on separation and on death. His mother died of tuberculosis, when he was 5. At age 14, he watched his 15-year-old sister Sophie succumb to the same disease. The pain in this painting touches me, each time I see it. So many loved ones torn apart...
