1668 The Huis ten Bosch at The Hague and Its Formal Garden



 The Huis ten Bosch at The Hague and Its Formal Garden (View from the East).  1668-70. by Jan van der Heyden (1637-1712). The Huis ten Bosch (the House in the Wood), was built just outside of The Hague in 1645-52 as a summer palace for Amalia van Solms, wife of the Stadholder, Prince Frederik Hendrik of Orange.

  1. Huis ten Bosch might have been princely but there was something homely about undecorated blocks, large windows and open gardens. I love it.
